Status Anxiety,

Grover seems like an interesting man--I wish the clip didn't attempt to villainize him; He seems to have at least a somewhat logically cohesive, if not cruel, worldview.

Intrigue!

I doubt we will EVER hear a US newsperson use the phrase 'agent provocateur'.

"The Sûreté du Québec issued a news release on August 23 admitting that the three protesters were, in fact, police officers."

The Perfect Human

Paris, 1976

'it was [a] rendezvous'...
'the film that you will see was carried out without any faking nor accelerates.'

[my comments:

As the information on youtube states, the sounds we are hearing were likely dubbed, but it still appears that the driver is going fairly fast. Just how fast? Here are some average speeds I calculated using google maps of Paris and film times (assuming the film is not sped up):

From 0:44 to 1:21 - (Avenue Foch from Porte Dauphine to Arc de Triomphe)
0.82 miles in 37 seconds = 117 feet/s = 80mph

From 1:32 to 2:10 - (Arc de Triomphe to Franklin Roosevelt roundabout via Champs Elysees) 0.69 miles in 38 seconds = 65mph

From 2:10 to 2:35 - (FDR roundabout to Luxor Obelisk at Place de la Concorde)
0.50 miles in 25 seconds = ~65mph

From 2:47 to 3:26 - (from leaving Place de Concorde to turning left onto Place du Carrousel (at the Louvre))
0.6 miles in 39 seconds = a pathetic 55mph.
place andre malraux

From 3:45 to 4:24 - (Leaving the Louvre and driving on Avenue d' La Opera until veering right of the Paris Opera Building)
0.56 miles in 39 seconds = 51mph

Faster than most people would dare drive in a congested city, but no faster than most commuters drive on the highway. Let me know if you think any other legs could potentially be faster and I'll time them.]
